The liver has many important functions that keeps a person healthy. It removes harmful material from the bloodstream and helps digest food. A functioning liver works as our bodies’ fat-burning organ: It converts nutrients from the food we eat into essential blood components, storing vitamins and minerals and producing proteins and enzymes to maintain hormone balances in our bodies. Our livers also help our immune system fight infections, remove bacteria from the blood and make bile, which is essential for digesting our meals.

Problems with your liver can be inherited or can occur if your body is infected by any viruses or harmful chemicals, according to The Mayo Clinic. Mistreating your liver can raise the risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease, chronic fatigue, headaches, digestive problems, allergies and many other ailments. Although the immune system protects our body from many dangers, it is the liver that protects the immune system from becoming overloaded.

But the good news is the liver is the only visceral organ that possesses the remarkable capacity to regenerate. The liver can regenerate after either surgical removal, disease, or after chemical injury. It is known that as little as 25% of the original liver mass can regenerate back to its full size. teaPower of Herbs

Today as I was sorting through a big bag of freshly picked herbs by my mom that she dropped off yesterday night, I thought to myself that it wasn’t just thoughtful and kind of her to do so, but the whole herb overload is a wonderful nudge for me to consume more herbs ? . As a nutritionist I understand and tell people about the power of herbs and their importance in our diet. However… read more

A lot of people on a standard American diet have one or more digestive conditions, which is a problem in itself. However, what is even a bigger problem is that these people believe these problems are normal! It is normal to have bloating and gas after a meal. It is normal to have constipation and heart burn. And so on. I see some of my friends popping Tums like candy… read more

2015-01-21 11Why Raw and How a Day on a Raw Diet Looks

Are you noticing a rising interest for a raw vegan diet? What’s the hype? For many decades we relied on main stream, conventional teaching (such as the food pyramid) telling us how much meat, dairy, and breads we need to eat in order to be healthy? I followed such knowledge wholeheartedly and by mid-twenties had a number of health issues. I still looked good (was still young) but I was in deep depression, had aching joints, headaches, full-blown seasonal allergies, no energy or desire to do anything. I was questioning the purpose of living all together. I have changed a lot of things in my life since then, but right now I just want to briefly share why I believe a high raw organic diet is the ultimate way of eating and show you that “vegan” doesn’t mean “eating grass” every day… Read more…

Grand_UniverseReflection on Interconnection, Vibrations, Manifestation

Everything is energy and all energy is interconnected. All living things are ‘’balls of energy’’ emitting light that is unseen to our human eyes. The same way we are unable to see radio waves and hear most sounds of the Universe, we can’t see and often feel this energy. A number of studies have confirmed this strong interconnection between all living things and its ability either to heal or destroy. Things affecting one of us – affect the rest of us. It is no longer just a saying. Our thoughts and words have the power to create, magnify, destroy, build, strengthen. Read more…

iStock_000009999916SmallWhy 100% Raw Diet May Not Be For All

I don’t think there’s a one-fit-all diet. However, I am not claiming that I am 100% correct as my understanding is changing as I research and experiment. We humans share many features, but we also differ from each other. Some are younger, some are older. Some are healthier, some are sicker. Some live in Alaska, others live on equator. We are at different stages of our physical, mental, spiritual health.     Read more…
